LEGAL COUNSEL FOR CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY OF SINGAPORE ("CAAS")

The Legal Counsel works as a member of CAAS Legal Division, providing professional legal advice to other CAAS officers on aviation and related legislation and regulatory matters.
 Responsibilities:

• Draft legislation and be involved in enforcement matters
• Interpret, vet and prepare contracts and various other legal documents pertaining to procurement of goods and services, property matters and operations-related issues and claims
• Handle insurance matters
• Vet and draft international agreements and represent the organisation at meetings and international forums

• Good honours degree in Law, and qualified under the Legal Profession Act with at least 5 to 6 years PQE
• Prior experience in regulatory and international law matters would be an advantage. If you do not have such prior experience, willingness to acquire the requisite knowledge on the job speedily is expected
• Ability to view legal matters from stakeholders’ perspective
• Ability to work well in a team with minimal supervision
• Be self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Interest in aviation, regulatory and/or public sector in-house counsel work would also be preferred

You will become an “internal advisor”: drafting contracts, providing legal advice, engaging in negotiations with external parties, supporting  M&A transactions and analyzing legislative changes, to name a few.

You have around 6-7 years’ experience in an in-house legal environment or leading law firm. You are a committed and ambitious Team Player, and are acquainted with complex transactions. As part of your further education, you will be encouraged to develop your personal skills. You will be required to travel for your work in the Asia Pacific region.
