You are what you Eat

The last SCCA Well Being Chapter announcement addressed unpredictability and leveraging resilience amid waves of adversity.  In this announcement, we want to focus on mental health and eating right for better mental and physical well-being.

This chapter will explore tips and techniques in the near future with professional specialists in fields inter alia of nutrition, mindfulness, and other interventions. We aim to support in a more sustained way the well-being of our SCCA members with a view to helping make legal and compliance counsels and legal professionals better team players, leaders, high performing individuals eventually leading to better counsel and better companies in Singapore.
Some food for thought here in regards to the title “you are what you eat”.
  • Your brain functions best when it gets only premium fuel such as eating high-quality foods containing lots of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which help to nourish and protect the brain and its function.
  • Your brain is always “on.” Your thoughts and movements, your breathing and heartbeat, your senses it needs a constant supply of “fuel” while it works 24/7.
  • What you eat directly affects the structure and function of your brain and, ultimately, your mood, concentration and productivity levels and overall mental well-being.
  • Studies have found a correlation between a diet high in refined sugars and impaired brain function and even a worsening of symptoms of mood disorders. Nutritional psychiatry is finding there are many consequences and correlations between not only what you eat, how you feel, and how you ultimately behave.
