SCCA Deepens Regional Engagement with Inaugural Overseas Event in Tokyo

SINGAPORE, 23 September 2026 – The Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA), Singapore’s national association for in-house counsel, marked a new milestone in its regional engagement with its inaugural overseas event in Tokyo on 15 September 2026.

Held as part of SCCA’s Regional Connect programme, the inaugural event represents an important step in the Association’s efforts to strengthen connections, facilitate knowledge exchange and deepen engagement among in-house counsel communities across the region.

Jointly organised by SCCA and Epiq, with the support of the Japan In-house Counsel Network (JICN) and Japan In-House Lawyers Association (JILA), the event brought together members of Japan’s in-house legal community, including in-house counsel and professionals across compliance, internal audit and risk management functions within Japanese corporations.

Centred on the theme “Preparing for Cross-Border Disputes and Internal Investigations Through AI and Technology”, the programme explored the growing complexity of cross-border disputes and internal investigations, effective data management practices, and the evolving role of AI and technology in supporting investigations and document reviews.

The programme featured insights from experienced in-house practitioners and industry experts, including Daisuke Nakajima, Director, Legal Solution, Epiq; Daryl Osuch, Investment Manager, Trailblaze Asset Management, Inc.; Kosuke Hayakawa, Senior Director, Legal Solution, Epiq; Kyle Reykalin, Legal Affairs Group, Legal Affairs Department, Daiichi Sankyo Co. Ltd.; and Toshiyuki Komaki, Legal Counsel, Legal/IP Department, YKK Corporation.

The programme concluded with remarks from Daniel Choo, President of SCCA, who reflected on the significance of the milestone and the importance of strengthening connections among in-house legal communities across the region.

While the work of in-house counsel increasingly transcends borders, each market brings its own legal, regulatory and business perspectives. By coming together, we can deepen our understanding of these local contexts, exchange experiences and learn from how our peers are navigating an increasingly complex landscape.

We were especially heartened by the strong turnout and engagement at our inaugural Tokyo event, and deeply appreciative of the warm welcome and active participation from our friends and counterparts in the Japanese in-house legal community. Their openness in sharing experiences, perspectives and ideas made the discussions particularly meaningful and reinforced the value of creating more opportunities for dialogue across our region.
