SCCA Expands Regional Network Through MOU Signings with IHCF and LMCP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SCCA Expands Regional Network Through MOU Signings with IHCF and LMCP
Singapore, 24 April 2026 — The Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) has marked a significant milestone in strengthening regional collaboration through the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the In-House Counsel Forum (IHCF) in Korea and the Legal Management Council of the Philippines (LMCP).
Established in 1999, the IHCF (Korea) is a leading association of in-house legal professionals, with a growing membership of over 2,600 lawyers licensed to practise across 16 countries worldwide.
Meanwhile, LMCP is the oldest in-house counsel organisation in Asia, with a distinguished 61-year history. It serves as an association of corporate legal counsel representing top domestic and multinational corporations, as well as leading legal service providers in the Philippines.
These strategic partnerships underscore SCCA’s commitment to enhancing the in-house legal ecosystem across Asia-Pacific by fostering opportunities for cross-border engagement and professional development. Under the agreements, SCCA members will benefit from access to IHCF’s and LMCP’s respective networks, resources, and platforms, enabling greater collaboration and knowledge exchange across the region.
The partnerships further build on SCCA’s existing network of MOUs with other prominent in-house counsel organisations, including the Indonesian Corporate Counsel Association (ICCA), the Japan In-House Lawyers Association (JILA), and the Thai Corporate Counsel Association (Thai-CCA), reinforcing SCCA’s growing regional footprint.
The MOU signings took place alongside the fourth Asia-Pacific (APAC) Legal Congress on 8–9 April 2026, one of the region’s leading gatherings for in-house counsel, which attracted over 2,500 participants from 30 countries and 115 industries. The event was attended by Guest-of-Honour Mr Edwin Tong SC, Singapore’s Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, and SCCA Patron Mr Lucien Wong SC, Attorney-General of Singapore.
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by leaders of in-house counsel associations from across the region who were attending the Congress, including representatives from India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Thailand; underscoring the growing importance of regional cooperation within the legal profession.
Commenting on the partnerships:
IHCF President Won Young Jung said:
“As Singapore’s role as a global legal hub continues to grow and the capabilities of Korean in-house counsel advance, this is an opportune time to expand onto the global stage. Through our partnership with SCCA, we will support our members in accessing opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region and strengthening their global competitiveness.”
LMCP President Alicia Juliet Salita added:
“LMCP is honored to enter into this partnership with SCCA. This MOU strengthens our shared commitment to deeper regional collaboration and elevating the in-house legal profession across Asia-Pacific. As the legal landscape continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, cross-border cooperation is no longer optional; it is essential. Through this partnership, we look forward to creating meaningful opportunities for our members to engage with their across the region, exchange expertise, and elevate the standards of in-house practice. LMCP commends SCCA for its leadership in building a truly connected regional legal community, and reiterates our commitment to, and participation in this collective effort.”
SCCA President Daniel Choo said:
“These MOUs reflect SCCA’s commitment to building a more connected and collaborative in-house legal community across Asia-Pacific. By deepening our engagement with IHCF and LMCP, we are creating meaningful opportunities for our members to gain new perspectives, strengthen regional networks, and navigate an increasingly complex legal landscape together.”
All in all, these partnerships reflect SCCA’s continued efforts to deepen regional engagement and foster a more integrated and resilient in-house legal community. As cross-border collaboration becomes increasingly important, SCCA remains committed to building strong partnerships that support the growth, connectivity, and long-term career of in-house counsel in Singapore and across the region.
