SCCA Unveils New Complimentary Membership Tier for In-House Counsel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Introducing SCCA’s New Complimentary Membership Tier for In-House Counsel
Singapore, 2 June 2026 – The Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA), the national association for in-house counsel in Singapore, is pleased to announce the launch of its new Basic Membership tier, a complimentary membership designed to broaden access to Singapore’s in-house legal community.
The Basic Membership tier was first introduced at SCCA’s flagship Asia-Pacific (APAC) Legal Congress 2026, which welcomed over 2,500 registrants, with the announcement made in the presence of Mr Edwin Tong SC, Singapore’s Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Lucien Wong SC, Singapore’s Attorney-General, and distinguished representatives from various in-house counsel associations across the region.
The launch of the Basic Membership reflects SCCA’s continued commitment to fostering a connected, inclusive, and future-ready in-house legal profession. As the role of in-house counsel continues to evolve amidst increasingly complex business, regulatory, and governance demands, SCCA recognises the importance of creating more accessible pathways for legal professionals to remain informed, connected, and engaged within the wider in-house legal ecosystem.
The Basic Membership tier provides eligible individuals with professional recognition under the Association, as well as complimentary access to recognised certification programmes and selected community initiatives. With no membership fee required, Basic Members may also upgrade to other membership tiers at any time to unlock additional benefits and exclusive privileges.
Existing SCCA membership categories include:
Ordinary Membership
Associate Membership
Student Associate Membership
Corporate Premium Membership
Commenting on the launch, Daniel Choo, President of SCCA, said:
“SCCA has always been committed to building a strong, connected, and supportive in-house legal community in Singapore. With the introduction of the Basic Membership tier, we hope to create a more accessible pathway for in-house counsel to be part of the SCCA community, a community built by and for in-house counsel.
SCCA is more than a professional association. It is a home for in-house counsel in Singapore: a place to connect with peers across industries, exchange ideas and experiences, and learn from others who understand the unique challenges and realities of working in-house.
As the role of in-house counsel continues to evolve amid increasingly complex business and regulatory environments, we believe that a strong and inclusive community will be essential to supporting the growth, resilience, and advancement of the profession. Through this initiative, we hope to bring more in-house counsel into the conversation, strengthen the collective voice and network of the in-house legal community in Singapore and beyond.”
Membership applications remain subject to approval by the SCCA Membership Committee. Applications for the Basic Membership are now open at [website link].
