Asia Pacific (APAC) Legal Congress 2025 Puts Spotlight on Legal Agility, Innovation, and Regional Cooperation
[Singapore, April 16, 2025] — The Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) successfully concluded the APAC Legal Congress 2025 on April 3rd and 4th at One Farrer Hotel, Singapore. As one of the region’s most anticipated events for in-house legal professionals, this year’s edition drew over 1,600 delegates representing a wide array of industries and jurisdictions.
Continuing its legacy as a dynamic forum for professional exchange, the APAC Legal Congress once again brought together legal minds to engage in forward-looking conversations on the transformation of the in-house legal role amid today’s evolving global landscape.
This year’s theme, "Legal as a Catalyst for Growth & Innovation through Agility & Strategic Partnerships," underscored the increasing importance of legal departments in shaping corporate resilience and long-term value. In-house counsel are no longer viewed solely as legal advisors — they are becoming essential contributors to business strategy, innovation, and risk leadership.
A Platform for Insight and Impact
Across two days, participants engaged in curated programmes, keynote presentations, expert panels, and in-depth discussions covering the latest developments and challenges in the legal profession. From adapting to shifting regulatory frameworks to embedding innovation through legal design, the sessions explored how legal functions can remain agile and responsive in an increasingly digital and complex environment.
More than just a conference, the congress is designed to empower legal professionals with the frameworks, tools, and insights needed to align more closely with broader business goals. It also promotes leadership development and encourage collaboration among peers from across the region.
Strengthening Regional Legal Networks
A key milestone at the 2025 congress was the formalisation of three strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between SCCA and prominent in-house counsel bodies across the region, namely:
The Indonesian Corporate Counsel Association
The Japan In-House Lawyers Association
The Thai Corporate Counsel Association
These MOUs represent a significant advancement in strengthening cross-border cooperation among Asia-Pacific’s in-house legal communities. The partnerships with the Thai and Indonesian associations focuses on fostering mentorship and internship opportunities, along with shared access to resources, training programmes, and professional events. Meanwhile, the collaboration with the Japan In-House Lawyers Association aims to promote international knowledge exchange, enrich educational offerings, and enhance development pathways for legal professionals.
“These agreements are more than symbolic—they reflect our shared commitment to strengthening the in-house counsel profession across Asia Pacific,” said Bryan Yeo, Executive Director of SCCA. “We believe that cross-border collaboration and capacity building are essential to the future of legal practice in our region.”
By formalising these partnerships, SCCA seeks to expand the collective capacity of the regional legal ecosystem, deepen professional connections, and create new avenues for career and capability development among its members.
Mission to Empower the Legal Community
This year’s congress proved to be a meaningful opportunity for participants to gain insight, spark conversation, and build networks across borders and sectors. It also reaffirmed SCCA’s long-standing commitment to advancing the profession through innovation, agility, and collaboration.
As part of its broader mission, SCCA continues to invest in initiatives that elevate the in-house legal community. The APAC Legal Congress 2025 stands as a key milestone — The congress serves as a key milestone — uniting legal leaders, business executives, and forward-thinking practitioners to shape the future of corporate legal practice in the region.
