About Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA):

Opportunity:
- The Director of SCCA Academy, will be responsible for driving initiatives to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and career pathways for in-house counsel in Singapore
- This role, which reports to the SCCA Executive Director (ED), is a key leadership role to advance SCCA’s mission to be positioned as the national professional development partner for the IHC community.
- The Director will focus on strategic consultation, training initiatives, competency frameworks, establishing accreditation standards to elevate the professional capabilities of legal professionals in Singapore and such other tasks and responsibilities as ED may direct from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consultation & Gaps Analysis
- Lead comprehensive consultation process with stakeholders (including General Counsels, in-house counsel, HR leaders, and legal industry experts) to identify skills gaps and opportunities in the in-house legal talent pool
- Conduct a thorough analysis of existing legal training programs and recommend strategic human capital initiatives that SCCA should pursue to address identified gaps
- Co-development of National Legal Competency Framework and training roadmaps
- Collaborate with Singapore Academy of Law (SAL), government bodies, academic institutions and industry leaders to develop the national legal competency framework tailored to IHC
- Support the creation of structured training roadmaps that define the progression of legal skills and career development pathways for in-house legal professionals at various stages of their careers
- Establishment of new human capital and training initiatives
- Oversee the implementation of proposed human capital and training initiatives, including tracking outcomes, evaluating program success, and recommending improvements
- If relevant, lead the establishment of an accreditation system for IHC-focused training courses and training providers, ensuring these programs meet the development needs identified in training roadmaps as well as standards of excellence
- Strategic Partnerships
- Forge strong partnerships with legal industry stakeholders, government agencies, and international bodies to promote the continuous professional development of IHC in Singapore
Key Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related field; OR at least 10 years of experience in legal services, human capital development, or organisational development, preferably within a corporate or legal setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in competency framework development training program design, and stakeholder engagement
- Strong understanding of the in-house counsel landscape and evolving legal industry in Singapore and Southeast Asia
- Proven track record of leading strategic initiatives and driving measurable outcomes in human capital development
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders
- Strong analytical and project management skills to drive large-scale consultation and training initiatives
- Ability to collaborate and build partnerships across various sectors, including government, academia, and industry
- Visionary leadership with commitment to enhancing Singapore’s legal talent ecosystem
- A passion for talent development and a commitment to promoting excellence within the in-house legal community
